Finally we have council consent to continue our construction. It’s been a very long delay. We apologise to prospective parents and staff for this, it was out of our control. Building next to a creek has it’s advantages and disadvantages. Advantages are that it’s a beautiful outlook for our children – eels, ducks, whitebait all live in this stream and will be a great source of learning about our environment. However, it creates geotechnical challenges – the soil stability has meant extra engineering and extra council consenting. However, this is all now complete and we have the green light to move forward.
You’ll notice the driveway retaining wall is almost complete and the footings for the next stage – car park and building have just begun. Next will be the foundation piles themselves. Our engineer and builder have worked together to come up with the best option for this and we hope that our neighbours enjoy watching the process. We really enjoy the conversations that we have with neighbours as they walk past the site and enjoy hearing the stories of Mairangi Bay’s history. Thanks for welcoming us into your community.
